June is Scoliosis Awareness Month — Help Us Spread the Word About Early Detection
We’re excited to launch our new ABCD of Scoliosis awareness campaign this June to help people recognise the early signs of scoliosis. Early detection can change lives, and this campaign is designed to empower families, schools, and communities with simple tools to spot scoliosis early.

This video features voiceover by social media influencer and scoliosis advocate Grace Tutty, who has over 1.7 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.
Grace, 23, from Surrey, is no stranger to the condition. She was first diagnosed with scoliosis in Year 7, after her mum noticed a change in her posture – leading to two major surgeries to correct her life-threatening spinal curve. Known for her fashion, lifestyle and body positivity content, Grace now uses her platforms to uplift others and raise awareness of scoliosis.
Grace says:
“I’m so happy to be involved in this campaign to raise awareness for early detection of scoliosis for scoliosis awareness month. I hope this campaign opens up conversations about scoliosis and the benefits of catching it before it progresses. So many of my followers suffer in silence with scoliosis and the more awareness we can give the condition the better.”

What is the ABCD of Scoliosis?
-
A for Asymmetry — Uneven shoulders, hips, or waist
-
B for Bend Forward — Look for rib or back bulges when bending
-
C for Check for Curve — Notice abnormal spinal curvature
-
D for Diagnosis — Confirmed by specialist X-ray
Scoliosis causes an abnormal curve and twist of the spine, affecting people of all ages but most often young people. Spotting it early can lead to better treatment outcomes and support.

Why Early Detection Matters
According to the NHS, 3-4 out of every 1000 children will need specialist scoliosis care. Early intervention means less invasive treatments and better recovery. This campaign highlights how simple checks can lead to timely diagnosis.
